How to create a list of companies based on selected criteria
To launch the function “Equity screening”, type “EQS” in the command line.

You can refine your search by applying filters from "Screening criteria" or just entering them in the "Add criteria" field. To retrieve current data or to set a specific time frame, edit the "As of" field right under the red menu header.

Let's perform a sample screening! Say we want to create a list of Chinese companies with current Market Capitalization over 900 M.
First of all, choose “Country/Territory of Domicile” from “Screening criteria” and type “China” in the yellow search bar. Then click it once again from "Search results", then go to “Update” to apply the filter.

To refine your search, type “Market cap” in the “Add criteria” search bar, choose “Current” and “Greater than” from the drop-down menus and enter in "900 M". Last, change the currency by choosing “USD” from “Criteria Currency”.

Notice that two filters are set by default, so that only primary and active titles are included. If you want to expand your search, remember to delete the correspondent screening criteria. Once you have set the filters you need, click on “See results | WATC”.

Different tabs in the resultant table provide a wide range of financial statements: estimates, actuals, credit etc.
Let’s say, for example, we are interested in the number of employees working in those companies. If you want to retrieve more data about the list of companies displayed, click on “Fields”. Open the tab “Custom” and type “Number of employees” in the “Add column” yellow search bar, then set the time frame of interest with the drop-down menu. For each equity, the number of employees in the last year will be displayed.

How to get a list of deals based on selected criteria
To perform analysis on Mergers & Acquisitions, type "MA" (Mergers&Acquisitions) in the command line at the top of the panel.

Say we want to analyze all Mergers & Acquisitions transactions completed in the last 10 years involving a Chinese company acquiring or investing in a European company.
Go to "Advanced search" to perform a refined search, based on a range of 3 categories of filters: "Deal criteria", "Company universe" and "Deal terms".

To set a time frame, click on "Date range" from "Deal criteria" on the left and pick "Custom" from the drop-down menu. Set the time frame of your interest and flag "Completion date". Then click on "Update" to apply the filter.
From "Company universe" menu, click on "Region/Country", choose "Western Europe" and flag the option "Target", then click on "Update".

To choose the acquirer country, select again "Region/Country" and type "China" in the "Quick search field", then select "China" from the "Search results" on the left and flag only the option "Acquirer". Apply the filter by clicking on "Update".

Once you have set the screening criteria, click on "Results".

An overview table with different tabs is displayed; click on "Deal List" to get the full list of M&A transactions.

To retrieve or delete data about the list of deals displayed, click on “Add column” or "Edit columns". Let's say, for example, we are interested in the acquirer industry sector. Click on "Edit columns", then type "Acquirer industry sector" in the yellow search bar.
