Start your search

Not sure where to start?

Go to “Related Functions Menu” at the top of the panel, “Main Menu of Bloomberg Functions” appears to get an overview of data and functions provided by Bloomberg.

 

Do you already know your starting point?

Type in security names or keywords in the command line at the top of the panel.

As you type, the terminal will provide a list of suggested equities and potential functions. Click on the command to load the security or function you are interested in.

 

Quick tip:

Sometimes browsing among apps and securities can be confusing!

Remember that the toolbar at the top of the panel always indicates the security you have previously loaded, the currently displayed function and will also suggest you related searches or applications.

Looking for information on a specific company?

Type in the name of the company in the command line, then click on the most relevant option among the suggested results.

When the equity you chose is loaded, the Equities menu appears, providing specific functions. Click on “DES” (Security Description) to get a company overview, which includes some financial data and general information about the company.

Looking for financial analysis statements for a selected company?

Type in the name of the company of interest in the command line to launch the security, then select “FA” (Financial analysis) from the Equities menu or just type “FA” in the search bar.

 

The function "Financial analysis" provides historical financial statements and estimates for the loaded security.

You can also use FA to analyze the current fundamental strength and historical trends in specific areas of a company's balance sheet, as well as income statements.

Do you need to download historical or forecast data?

Open Bloomberg Excel add-in and click on “Spreadsheet builder”.

The feature "Historical data table" allows you to download historical data. To download the latest available current data you can use "Blank data table" instead.

Please remember that Bloomberg has a monthly download limit.

You can export data from Bloomberg to Excel spreadsheets on the terminal by clicking "Export/Save" on the red toolbar. The example here below displays how to export data from the "MA" function: click on "Export", then "Excel".

Bloomberg will generate an Excel spreadsheet.

When the download limit is reached, "N/A review" will appear in your Excel output:

You can still save your data by taking screenshots within the terminal. Click on the circled icon, then "Take window screenshot" and "Save".
