Open Access projects

Plan S

Plan S is a project that has been carried out since 2018 by cOalition S, a group of research funders from different countries. In defining its ten core principles, Plan S states that:

“With effect from 2021, all scholarly publications on the results from research funded by public or private grants provided by national, regional and international research councils and funding bodies, must be published in Open Access Journals, on Open Access Platforms, or made immediately available through Open Access Repositories without embargo.”
SPARC

Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) is an alliance of academic and research libraries which has been active since 1998. It is committed to making knowledge available to everyone and, to do so, it promotes Open Access, Open Education and Open Data.

Some of its initiatives:

  • It was one of the promoters of international Open Access Week
  • It helps institutions developing their OA policies
  • It helps authors understanding their rights

International Open Access Week at Bocconi Library

The International Open Access Week is an annual event dedicated to Open Access which takes place in autumn all around the world: various initiatives on the topic of Open Access are organized. The theme of the 2024 edition – which takes up the previous one – is “Community over Commercialization”.

In October 2024, Bocconi Library organised the online event “The benefits of Open Research Data” to explore the Open Research Data (ORD) and their proper use and management.
